Mobile Settlement

Is a set of portable objects in a carrier bag. The objects comprise of three corner poles, three lines, a field and modular architectural sheets that slot into each other to make three structures.

In an action, I used the objects to discover forestry workers. My works can be seen alongside the forestry workers work in a slide projection showing Mobile Settlement in action.

The aim was to show an element of daily routine in the industrial plant that is Grizedae Forest - Whilst showingthe properties of the Mobile Settlement sculpture.

Mobile Settlement was preceded by 6 Mooring Posts, a structure of 6 posts to imposed a rectangle onto the forest. The Mooring Posts came in a small red vehicle and were implement in the forest, prior to the action.

The work was developed during a Grizedale residency 1998.
